a few things

I've decided summer is never coming.  Logan winters are just as rough as Rexburg winters.  It's going to be cold, cloudy, and rainy/snowy forever.  We're going to be in long pants and closed toed shoes forever.  I made banana chocolate chip muffins earlier this week to make the day a little brighter.  And they totally did. 

 We decided to stay home and have our own little Easter.  It was great!  We didn't have to run all over, I got to make a yummy ham dinner, and we all took long Sunday afternoon naps.  It was fun to be in charge of the holiday. 

My cousin came on Wednesday.  She left today...it was very sad.  She's just like me and we have way too much fun together.  I can't wait until she has babies and we live in St. George together and we can hang out with our babies everyday...one day :)

an easter egg hunt

We took Porter to an Easter egg hunt at Smith's Grocery Store this morning.  There were free donut holes and juice - awesome.  The hunt was split up into age groups and the 1-3 year olds (we were a month shy, who cares, right?!) didn't have to find hidden eggs.  Instead, they just had to grab handfuls of candy off of the floor.

When they said go, we hurried Porter over to the ENORMOUS piles.  He hesitated at first and kind of watched the other toddlers go crazy.  But then he sat down and played in the candy.  Eventually we got him to put pieces of it into his basket - I just wanted one tootsie roll!

Anyway, it was a pretty hilarious event.

weekends

I absolutely love the weekends.  We forget all about James's hectic schedule and just enjoy our little family.  On Saturday we had french toast and eggs for breakfast (our personal favorite).  We then went to Baby Animal Days at American West Heritage Center.  It was pretty entertaining - Porter wasn't very interested in the animals, but more interested in the other kids.

Sunday evening we watched a movie on our extra mattress in the living room :)  Porter and his Daddy played a little game:

So, we moved.  The apartment we moved into when we first arrived in Logan was kind of a…bottom of the food chain kind of an apartment.  It was awful.  We decided to try and sell our contract and for some reason someone bought it?!   Once it sold we only had a week to move – which at first seemed exciting, because the sooner, the better.  

It definitely still was very exciting to move - but of course Porter and I were sick with about ten different things, we had to move in the middle of the week which interfered with James’s work/school schedule and I’m pregnant so there was little lifting I could do.    

BUT…we made it…with very little sleep.

Now we are in a very cozy, two bedroom townhouse.   We are two blocks away from the zoo, 3 parks, a few more blocks away from the splash park and about a mile from Wal-Mart.  We can open our front window without worrying about the endless people walking/driving by and Porter can crawl in and out of the front door without getting some kind of disease. (sarcasm)  There aren’t a million ants living under our house (or that we know of yet) and our washer/dryer actually have their own little room…in the house!   

 Yeah…life is good.

I’ve decided I have no decorating skills and I can’t take pictures.  So I probably won’t be posting “work of art” pictures of our beautifully decorated townhouse.  Just take my word for it…this place rocks!

This past week Porter and I flew to California to visit my sister and her kids.  It was a much needed trip for us - we live in a very cold, dark, and snowy place!  I was nervous for the plane ride.  Porter was just going to sit on my lap and I had no idea how he'd do...but I have the best baby!  The flight to California we lucked out and the seat next to us was empty.  Porter touched EVERYTHING, talked to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.  I had to change his diaper on the plane which almost gave me a heart attack, but now looking back is hilarious.  And on the way home, he slept for practically the whole flight.

 

When we got there, it was sunny and like 70...I couldn't believe it!  And the first thing we did was stop at this donut shop and bought a dozen donuts.  I requested them :)  My sister talks about buying donuts at this little place and I have been craving them for a while.  They even come in a pink box - makes it more fun, right?

The first night we took a walk to a park which overlooked the ocean...seriously, why do I live in Utah?  Porter has never been to a park - no I'm not depriving my child.  He was just born in the summer and again, we live in a cold place where it's winter FOREVER!  He loved the park!

The next couple of days we ran errands (which is so much better with someone else), played on the beach three days in a row, ate pizza at Costco, and had In-n-Out at 10:30 in the morning - not even joking.

Yeah, it was pretty much the best.  But we were very happy to come home to James. 
And I have not one picture of my sister and I?  Sad.
I heard it's suppose to snow tomorrow...of course.
