keeping it fresh

So I've decided Porter and I rock at filling our days with lots of activities.  Here are our recent activities...yeah go ahead and try them, you know you want to:

1. Walk to the park: seriously, we do this everyday.  I push him in the stroller, lay out a blanket, eat snacks, play in the bark/sand, climb up and down the stairs, and slide down the slide. (And this keeps me REALLY tan!)

2. Ride the bus...ANYWHERE!  They have a bus system in Logan that is completely free.  Yes, you read it right.  FREE!  We ride the bus almost daily.

3. Go to the library: whether we walk or ride the bus, we go to the library.  Porter crawls all over the "reading only" couches and cushions, we look at the fish, pull out handfuls of little kid books and put them all back.  It's heaven for Porter.

4. Go to McDonald's: This didn't work out as well as I thought.  I imagined Porter and I happily sharing a small ice cream cone and then playing on the "play place."  It was insanely crowded at 2 in the afternoon and Porter is still too small for the BIG KID play place.

5. Walk the mall: We actually drove our own car to the mall.  I watched Porter crawl, walk, climb, run all over the kid play area and then we checked our Motherhood Maternity.  (Oh my goodness, they have the cutest most EXPENSIVE clothes!)

6. Go to the pool: Ok this one does cost some money but it's worth it!  We walk to the pool, lay out our towels, pack yummy snacks, and I'm pretty sure Porter could play in the kiddie pool all day.

7. Watch a baby signing time video: Have you seen these videos?  The songs are so catchy and the animations are adorable.  Porter will watch about 5 minutes and then be done - but 5 minutes of holding still is fantastic!  And it makes great background music.

I was telling James how happy I was with our life right now.  I feel like I have this great routine with Porter.  He's very independent, and a great eater/sleeper.  My life is fun and actually kind of easy.  And is it terrible to admit that I'm just a little sad that a new baby will throw off my groove?

daddys

Today I'm grateful for the Daddys in my life.
I am totally in love with this Daddy.  Not only is he my good-looking husband, but he's also the best Daddy to my favorite little boy.

And I very much love this Daddy.  He's the best and I wish we lived closer.
Happy Father's Day.

why?

Porter and I were outside this morning at like 9...cause why not?  It's warm and we're up by 7:30.  Might as well play outside as much as possible.  Cause I'm pretty sure it's going to snow tomorrow or next week or something.

As we were outside we saw runners.  People running alone, running with a friend, running with their dog.  We saw people riding their bikes.  Dangit, why don't we have bikes?  And I realized how much I missed running.

I especially love running in the summer.  I love to wake up early (well...7am) and go for a run while it's still cool and most of the neighborhoods are still quiet.  It's kind of my favorite thing ever.  And this summer I can't.  Totally pregnant.  Why aren't I one of those hard core pregnant women who run throughout their whole pregnancy?  If you know someone like that, will you send them my way to motivate me for next time?

P.S. I freaking love summer.

saturday

(pictures have nothing to do with this post - but we went to the Zoo on Thursday and I told my parents of how Porter could not get to the carousel fast enough..  They thought it was hilarious.  So here you go Mom and Dad)

Dear Universe,

Can it please, oh ALWAYS, please be Saturday?
My husband is home all day.
We do such fun things on Saturday.  We spend the ENTIRE day as a little family.
I love Saturdays.

Today we went on a nice long walk at 9 am.
We went to the swimming pool and swam for hours.
While chasing our baby in the kiddie pool we met another couple with a baby.
We chatted.  They invited us to a barbeque.
So tonight we ate delicious shish kabobs with people we had just met.
Now our baby is sleeping so we can snuggle up and watch a movie.
I love Saturdays.

Please universe...please make everyday, Saturday.
Love, Tiff

the past week or so...

We've been all over the place this last week.  Two weekends ago we celebrated two birthdays.  I was kind of worried that it would be a little overwhelming or hard or something to have two birthdays back to back.  Totally not.  It was way too much fun.  We had a full weekend of partying.

On Saturday we were all up by 7 and then out the door for a walk at 8.  We planned on walking to the little zoo around the corner.  It wasn't open yet...but in the park next to the zoo they were setting up a March of Dimes walk.  So we donated a few dollars, had a delicious breakfast and walked.  On our walk we past the fairgrounds where they were having a free dog show.  So we slipped away from the walk and watched dogs run around...hilarious.

Later that day we walked back to the zoo.

Sunday James's parents drove up after church for a birthday party for James and Porter.  It was great!  We sang to each one of my cute boys and ate cake...lots of cake.  I made Porter's cake from scratch which he happily smashed into.  And I made James's German chocolate cake from scratch - except I'm realizing I'm horrible with presentation!  James's cake was freaking delicious but looked more like a big pile of slop :)

Last week James started his summer internship with Boeing - woo woo! I know, he's awesome, right? So we've been staying in Draper. A little shout out to all of my friends close by - I'm probably going to be here for a big part of the summer, so call me!
Over Memorial Day weekend we went to Hatch to continue working on the Eldridge family cabin. It is looking so good! Porter and I spent most of our weekend in our motel room or running around the grass next to the motel. But we still had a good time.

 AND...today is June 1st...I'm 24!
