Addicted

I'm addicted to...
Taking pictures of my baby
Posting those pictures on my blog
And blogging

I am absolutely addicted to all three...which explains my insane amount of posts over the last few weeks.

Builders

Did you know that my husband can pretty much build anything?  It's true I tell you!  He built this....
Yup, with the help of his parents, brothers, some friends, and even me (a little) he built this beautiful structure.
And this past weekend, we went back to do some work on the inside...well he and his family did. I played with Porter :)

Highlights from our weekend in Hatch:
1- sleeping in a trailer for the first time
2- enjoying breakfast in a small town hosted by the firefighters
3- rididng in the car with my handsome husband and cute baby as we drove to Bryce Canyon where we then got into the park for free by a nice park ranger
4- eating a delicious dinner of slow roasted beef, potatoes, salad, and homemade root beer - again hosted by the small town of Hatch to help raise money for their new town hall!

5- watching the fireworks from of our car while eating Swedish Fish and listening to Rascal Flatts

6- Riding a four wheeler through the field (awesome!)

2 Months

I took Porter to his 2 month check-up today.
12 lbs. 11 oz.  22 & 1/2 inches long
The nurse: "Does he turn towards noise?"
Mom: "Yes."
The nurse: "Does he follow you with his eyes?"
Mom: "Yes."
The nurse: "Does he smile when you talk to him, make noises, coo?"
Mom: "Yes!"
The nurse: "Does he sleep through the night?"
Mom: "No..." (but he does have a good 5-6 hour stretch!)
The doctor (whom I love) showed me neck stretches...which made Porter cry...
He checked inside Porter's mouth...which made Porter gag...
The nurse gave my baby boy three shots...he cried...I cried.
I don't like doctor visits.

But the doctor did comment on what a cute, alert, and healthy baby I have...which made it a LITTLE better.

One Year

One year ago (July 17th)  we were doing this...
I wish I could try and describe all of the moments where we both laughed so hard we thought we were going to have an accident (oh wait I think I did blog about that time)...describe all of the moments when I looked at my handsome husband and counted my blessings for the man in front of me...describe those moments when a kiss from my husband made everything better....describe the moment when we found out we were expecting...describe the moment when we found out our little baby was a boy...and describe the moment when I had Porter
Marriage is absolutely amazing.

Happy One Year Anniversary, James!
(And thanks a MILLION to my mother in law - I think she had a little divine inspiration to set up a cute school teacher with her cute son)

And now...we're doing this...

James surprised me with a romantic getaway for our one year anniversary.  We stayed at the Homestead - this beautiful resort in Midway.  James and Porter on our porch of our little "cottage" for the night.

A view of the resort...

Us at dinner - we ate on a big deck next to a pond - very romantic.

Porter at dinner...don't be fooled - he was only happy for about a millisecond in his car seat :)

James's Diet Coke and my Lemonade - our favorite!

Another view of the resort

The top of the Homestead Crater - look at my baby's head...he slept?

James and I

We got home Saturday morning and went to the famous Draper Days!  We walked around, bought kettle corn and cinnamon almonds (carnival food FAVORITES!) and then laid out our blankets to watch the fireworks.

Our little family :)

Grandpa, Grandma & Uncle James

Did you know I'm coming to visit next week?

It's TRUE!
Are you excited?  I am!
I am so much fun to play with...promise!

P.S. Mommy is excited too!

He smiles...

Why didn't anyone tell us how much we would love our baby?  We can't seem to give him enough hugs znd kisses.  We tell him he's cute and that we love him almost every five minutes...doesn't seem like enough.  He's our world :)

Oh and he totally has a strong neck!

A Day for Porter

On July 4th, we blessed Porter.  James did a great job - it was a very special day.  After wards, we went to a park to enjoy a yummy brunch.  And as I nursed my cute baby in the privacy of our car, I watched my nieces and nephews feed the ducks....watched my brother in law, Leo push my brother James on this spinning monkey bar....watched my siblings compete in a pull up contest (Steph did 3!)....watched my handsome husband walk around and entertain the family...I realized...once again, how important family is.

And on this July 4th, I was very grateful for our country's freedom, for our founding fathers, for the men that fight to keep our country free...so that we could gather as a family on a "colder" summer day to celebrate our new baby Porter.
Our family - Daddy, Mommy and baby Porter - I could NOT get the hair out of my face!
Porter in his adorable blessing outfit.
And this is my nephew, Emmett.  Don't be fooled by his size...he isn't four months older than Porter...just two weeks older. On my side of the family, there have been four boys been in the last year.  Lots of little boys :)

The night before we watched the city fireworks with our friends.  Porter woke up RIGHT when the fireworks started and was very hungry...but at least he wasn't bothered by the LOUD fireworks.

And as a side note...James and I are living with my in laws until we move to Logan for school at the end of the summer.  Do you know how awesome free food and board is? :)
