summer, please don't go away

We have had a lot of fun the past month.  And I'm sad because summer is about over.  Most of my friends have kids who start school this week.  I can even feel the cool air coming.  Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the fall.  But summer....oh, summer.  How I will miss you!

 

James took Porter to work one day, so Paige and I had a girls day.  We rode the bus to the library.  We painted our finger nails and toe nails and made cookies :)

 

Blast from the past!  My childhood friend from PA, who I haven't seen in like 10 years was in Utah on vacation and came to Logan to see me.  We had a really fun day.

AND...we took our first family vacation to California.  We of course stopped in St George to see my parents.

 Then in California, we met up with James's parents and toured the USS Iowa.

That night we went to a Dodgers game - woo woo!  The kids did awesome.

 

And we spent a whole day on the beach! (I could have spent 10)

 We went to my sister, Rachelle's.  I wish we had stayed longer there.  Paige loved Dash.  Porter and his cousins played so well.  And Rachelle and I could have made yummy food and talked for days.  We even ran on the beach - we almost got swept away.  Not even joking.

 And on the way home we stopped in Vegas for a night.  The kids LOVED IT!

AND....my dear little Paige turned two.  I honestly never thought this day would come.  I had my first two babies extremely fast and she was SUCH a hard baby.  I remember thinking we'd never make it to bedtime, let alone her 2nd birthday.  But we did.  And she is the happiest, kindest, silliest, most tender hearted little girl you will ever meet.  She can win anyone's heart over.  On our trip, every 5 minutes, a new stranger would say, "Oh my goodness, she is beautiful!" and stop to talk to her.

 Happy birthday my little lovebug.  We're so lucky to have you.

the 4th weekend

On the 4th we drove up to Bear Lake and played on the beach for a few hours.

My kids could have played there for days. 

 

 

That night we were walking by the fairgrounds and there was a Sock Hop for the "Cruis-In" event.  So we danced to fifties music for a couple of hours!  The kids got candy and glow sticks.  We got home late, but still did fireworks and ate cookies.

 

On Saturday we went to the show of all the "Cruis-In" cars, ate fair food, and then sat on Center Street and watched all of the cars cruise.  Awesome.

My days

My summer days are filled with:

 

popsicles

walks to the park

running through the sprinkler

playing at the splash pad

the swimming pool

riding our bikes

playing with friends

hikes in the canyon

just BEING OUTSIDE

we were gone for a while

I only blog when we've done something amazing.  And the past two weeks have been pretty amazing!

 

I took the kids and went to St. George for a week to play with my parents.  I'm selfish like that ;)  Its warm there!  We were shorts and flip flops and got sunburns.  I can't wait for summer!

 

 

 

Then we met James and his family in Hatch.  His parents have land and a cabin there.  We've decided to build a little bunkhouse next to their cabin.  So we're working on that.  I'm lucky to have a strong, talented husband who can build ANYTHING!

 

 

October is gone!

I can't believe it's already November!  And there are way too many things for me to tell you about.  Really, these Eldridges did some pretty exciting things in October.

We carved our pumpkins.

We went to the American West Heritage Park for their Fall Festival.  We ate kettle corn, got old fashioned candy, played in some hay and walked through a corn maze.  It was a lot of fun!

Over James's fall break he had this idea to go camping.  I am a water-side, middle of the summer, kind of camper.  So I was very against this idea from the beginning.  But...I decided we could try it.  It was actually a lot of fun up until bedtime.  Finally about midnight, James said, "Do you want to take Paige home?"  I happily drove home with Paige and we each slept in our warm, comfortable beds.  Porter of course slept through her screaming in the tent and James said he slept through the night.  Awesome.

We've been doing lots of "art projects" lately.  This is painting with pudding!

Halloween....oh Halloween!!  I'm a little crazy and wanted to do as many trick or treating events as possible.  I just wanted to show off my kids cute costumes.  I made them myself - with a ton of help by my friend, Shalisha.  We went to a trick or treat at a grocery store the Saturday before Halloween.  Then on Halloween we went trick or treating to the mall, a retirement center, our church, and then to a few houses.  Ah!  We got so much candy.  And our kids were happy all day.  Each time Porter got one piece of candy, he would say, "Mom, I want more candy!" And Paige was determined to walk and hold her bucket all by herself.

My parents came for a night a few weekends ago.  It was a fast trip but it was nice to watch them play with my babies and treat us to Aggie ice cream comes.  It's the best ice cream around.  Promise.

And even though it's November...my really good friend Kim and her little family came to play today.  We were super laid back - ate pizza for lunch, walked to the park, played with our kids in the living room, and then made roasted chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner.  (It'll be on my food blog soon!)

OH! And did you know Home Depot does "kid workshops" every month?  We had no idea!  When James and Porter were there today Porter got an apron, and made and painted a Thanksgiving napkin holder.  It is adorable and he was VERY proud to show it to me!  Gosh I love him.  He really is such a sweet little boy who insists on pleasing those around me.
