Moving and...

Why does it always look worse before it looks better?  It seems as we've been packing up our first apartment together as a married couple, it just keeps get messier!
(Do you just love that awesome packing job on the box below the small black box...I just sort of shove stuff in the box and hope it will close)

 Oh and remember the car I bought when I got my first real job as a real 2nd grade teacher?

We traded it in for this AWESOME car - Porter's car seat barely fit in my Cobalt...and the stroller didn't fit.  I cried when we came home with this.  It's a beauty...but that Cobalt was MY car :)

Thrice

Porter rolled over three times today...count um THREE
(And of course I didn't have a camera...but I had a camera during these moments - ENJOY!)

Summer

The last few days finally felt like summer vacation.  My cousin and her husband came - which pressured my sister and her husband to take time off work and come play with us too.  Once again, I forgot to take pictures - sorry.

We bought and devoured Otter pops, grilled steaks, ordered pizza, went to a little kid carnival (and left shortly thereafter), swam in the pool (lots of tanning), and last night...there was a power outage which caused us all to pile into the car to see how many people were without power.  Almost 10-12 blocks were COMPLETELY out of power!  We never did figure out what caused it?

And then this morning I woke up, cleaned up the aftermath and took my baby for a walk.  

Oh...and there are still plenty of Otter pops in the freezer :) 

One Month

Our baby is one month old today...

Porter loves:

- Mommy and Daddy

- his binky

- taking baths

- eating...lots and lots of eating

- laying on the floor and playing (tummy and back)

- sleeping next to Mommy

Porter is the HAPPIEST in the morning 

Porter does NOT love:
- sleeping in his crib

- the evenings...he gets sad

-  his car seat

- the car

- when Mommy takes more than 5 seconds to pick him up

We love Porter and are so happy he's apart of our family!

Fathers

This year is the FIRST year that my handsome husband is a FATHER. How wonderful is that? One more holiday, one more reason, one more chance for me to write something special about him. Here are a few reasons why he is the BEST Daddy:

1 - He changes diaper after diaper after diaper after diaper...

2- He can get Porter to burp. I try, I promise I do. And I can never get anything out. But Daddy seems to hold him just the right way and put pressure on JUST the right spots.

3- When Porter is sad at the end of the day, James will hold him and rock him and talk to him until he falls asleep

4- James has already started talking to Porter about all of the wonderful things they'll do together (fishing, hunting, camping, etc.)

5- James calls Porter his, "Little Buddy"

He's an AWESOME dad. And I'm grateful he's my babys daddy. Love you James!

And I have to tell my own wonderful Dad - " Happy Father's Day!" Thanks for putting up with 5 girls...sorry you only got 1 son :)

Thanks for teaching me to work hard, thanks for your amazing example and testimony of the gospel, thank you for your loving and kind heart....and thank you for being my Dad. I don't know how I got lucky enough to be your daughter!

Don't Stop Believin'

Yup, you read the title right. Don't you DARE stop believin'! Some of you may be asking - what is that title referring to? Oh my goodness, let me educate you. This lovely group of teenagers below belongs to a glee club named "New Directions."

Their teacher is Mr. Schuester - a recently divorced man who would do anything for his students and who is MADLY in love with the school guidance counselor, Emma. And Rachel, who is one of the best singers, is finally realizing her feelings for Finn who has been trying to show her he cares. And the main diva is definitely Mercedes who is such an amazing friend to Quinn...


Oh...and did I mention that this group of teenagers are characters on a TV show called, Glee? Yup, they are. James calls this show my High School Soap. And it totally is.

I absolutely LOVE this show. I cannot get enough of the hilarious drama and the songs that they sing during glee club practice or RANDOMLY throughout the show. On the season finale...there might have been a few tears shed as they sang their hearts out at regionals.

Yup, I'm in love with a TV show about high school drama intertwined with amazing music. How can it get much better? Oh wait...it can - this is my favorite song...

Just Mom and Me

We decided to leave the house today

Just Mom and Me

First, Mom put me in my car seat - I cried

Mom got nervous and almost decided to forget the whole outing

But I made sure Mom was okay - once she started the car, I stopped crying

Mom drove to the bank

I was on my best behavior...I slept :)

Then we drove to the grocery store

We walked around the store and picked out lots of yummy food (strawberries were .79 a package!)

We had Porter's newborn pictures and a few family pictures taken yesterday. They turned out AWESOME. If you live in the Davis County area, you should definitely check out Melanie's website. She was fantastic with Porter and wonderful to work with.

2 Weeks

Today my baby is 2 weeks old - I have no idea how 2 weeks have already gone by, and yet it feels like Porter has always been here :)
We've had a few visitors over the last 2 weeks:


James and Porter started the grill together last night for some yummy dinner!

And today we went on our first walk (with our awesome jogging stroller)

It's the 1st

Today is June 1st

It's the 1st day I was home alone with my baby

The 1st time Porter let me put him in his bouncer (usually he wakes up INSTANTLY)

The 1st morning I had to make my own breakfast (I have an amazing HUSBAND and MOM)

The 1st time I've put on makeup since I had baby Porter

The 1st day I showered before eleven

The 1st day we bathed Porter in his whale tub (Thanks Jen and Leo!)

And June 1st...also happens to be my 23rd birthday :)
